University of Canterbury Digital Campus and Film Studios

A project to create a commercial digital-screen campus on the University of Canterbury Dovedale Campus, linking with an academic film school.

The brief was to use key elements of the existing building stock to house post-production facilities to the west, and to enhance the campus with new buildings designed for film production facilities in the north-west corner.

A collection of new post-production facilities (pre-mix/film, mix/foley and green screen/virtual production) was designed to sit alongside new production facilities (production offices and sound stages) and to link across the central divide of the main entry road from Dovedale Avenue through the campus.

A Limited Notification Resource Consent was lodged in 2021 and approved in early 2022.
